Over the past 33 years, the Cogrossi family has built Ruby Lake Resort into one of the most authentic and unique Sunshine Coast resort experiences in British Columbia. This page features a selection of media articles and press coverage that reflect our journey, our values, and the story behind the resort.
What began as a bold decision to leave downtown Milan and move over 9,000 kilometers away to a remote part of the Sunshine Coast has become a lifelong commitment to building something meaningful. As proud immigrants, the Cogrossi family embraced the challenge of starting over, adapting to a new environment, and creating a place that goes far beyond a traditional resort. Ruby Lake Resort is not just a business. It is a statement of resilience, vision, and respect for nature.
Many of the articles featured here highlight the culinary experience led by Chef Aldo Cogrossi, whose passion for farm-to-table cuisine and West Coast ingredients has become a defining part of the resort. Others share the story of the family’s deep connection to the land, their stewardship of this 88-acre wildlife sanctuary, and their commitment to preserving the environment for future generations.
We are also honored to share moments connected to our friendship with Joni Mitchell, a global icon, poet, and artist, whose presence has added a meaningful and unique layer to the story of Ruby Lake Resort.
Over the years, the resort has hosted unforgettable gatherings, from intimate culinary experiences to larger events such as the Bird Festival and the Equinox Festival, welcoming guests from around the world to celebrate music, food, and nature in a truly special setting.
None of this happened alone. This journey has been shaped by the support of an incredible community and the many people who have believed in us along the way. We have grown into who we are today because of Canada — a country that gave us the opportunity to build, to adapt, and to thrive. We are deeply grateful to call Canada home, proud to live here, and proud of the beauty, the standard of living, and the extraordinary natural environment that surrounds us.
The Sunshine Coast community has stood behind us for decades, creating strong relationships, lasting friendships, and countless shared moments. From evenings around the fire, to dinners by the lake, to fishing trips, foraging for mushrooms, and exploring the forest, these experiences are part of what makes Ruby Lake Resort so special.
As a Sunshine Coast resort known for hiking, wildlife, and outdoor experiences, Ruby Lake Resort continues to evolve while staying true to its roots. These articles represent more than recognition. They reflect a journey built on courage, gratitude, community, and a deep desire to leave something meaningful behind, in harmony with nature, for generations to come
