Hiking Tips

  • Safety: Wildlife in the area includes black bears, cougars, coyotes, and wolves. It is advised to carry bear spray and make noise.
  • SCT Section Hiking: The 180-km trail can be broken into smaller sections, such as Sarah Point to Powell River (50 km, 2–3 nights).
  • Best Time: The trails are accessible for hiking in the summer and, in some areas like Dakota Ridge, snowshoeing in the winter.
